We’re sponsoring England Amputee Football Association volunteer

As huge football supporters, we are proud to announce that Aquarius are sponsoring Lloyd Jones this year in support of his role as a volunteer for the England Amputee Football Association, whose senior team, in September 2022, competed in the World Cup. It is a proud moment for us and we feel privileged to show our support to Lloyd, who works in our Technical Support team.

England finished 9th in the world in the amputee football, after an amazing start to a new generation, having the experienced lions left at home and the young cubs heading out to a world cup some for which it was their first major tournament, This was a fantastic achievement that impressed many people in the amputee football world.

The team did themselves really proud having played previous world champions Angola, who in their 3 other games had racked up 16 goals. But they could only manage a scrappy 1-0 win against England in the dying moments of extra time. Angola made it to the final and fell short to the hosts Turkey; the final took place in Galatasaray’s stadium, where over 20,000 fans turned up and created an amazing competitive atmosphere.

England went on to beat Indonesia, Japan, Argentina and Poland only falling short to the USA, Argentina (in their first encounter) and previously mentioned Angola.

The future looks bright for England, as the young lions look towards the European championships in 2 years.

Words from Lloyd “I had an amazing experience with the team. Being able to photograph in Fenerbache’s stadium and also being able to witness the final in Galatasaray’s stadium with over 20,000 fans is something I could have only dreamt of. The fact I am able to capture memories for everyone on the team is priceless which is why I volunteer for this as a photographer in the first place, and of course, being able to help promote the sport further through my photography is great to see. The team is like my family and I am forever grateful for the experiences and the people I have met along the way.
